On August 31, CECEP Solar’s 500 MW photovoltaic project integrating desertification control in Dalad Banner was successfully connected to the grid, becoming the first project in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to simultaneously advance renewable energy development and ecological restoration.

Located in Engebei Town, Dalad Banner, Ordos City, the project has an installed capacity of 500 MW with an energy storage system of 75 MW/150 MWh. Built under the PV + Desertification Control model, it is a centralized ground-mounted solar power project that combines multiple applications: reducing evaporation beneath solar panels, stabilizing sand with pile foundations, and planting vegetation under the panels. At the same time, the project incorporates sand barriers and afforestation measures to rehabilitate 51,000 mu of degraded sandy land. Once operational, the project is expected to generate about 850 million kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to saving approximately 260,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 720,000 tons each year. Beyond providing clean and renewable energy for the region, it will also contribute to ecological improvement, supporting the fight against desertification under the Three-North Shelterbelt Program and promoting ecological restoration in the Yellow River Jiziwan (n-shape bend) region.
