Recently, the Laohutan Reservoir in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, has approached the pre-flood limited water level during the flood season. Upon the requirements of the Flood and Drought Prevention Class-Ⅲ Emergency Response Plan of the Huzhou Water Conservancy Bureau, the reservoir began to pre-discharge floodwater at 11 a.m. on July 2, and ended the pre-release at 9 a.m. on July 4. This move aimed to vacate its storage capacity under the prerequisite of safety and maximally reduce losses in the downstream areas from the disaster. Moreover, the Laohutan Reservoir operated by General Water of China Co., Ltd. under CECEP adjusted the water supply mode according the changes in water quality during the flood season, shifting from middle-low-layer water supply to middle-layer water supply to ensure water supply security.

To prevent flood, the Wuhuashan Reservoir of the Suifen River, operated by General Water of China Co., Ltd. under CECEP, opened its floodgates to pre-release floodwater on June 25, vacating storage capacity totaling 15 million cubic meters. Before the arrival of the flood season, the reservoir comprehensively checked all its hardware and software to ensure smooth and safe operations during the flood season.

Continuous precipitation also threatened safe operations of sewage treatment plants. On July 9, the river outside Jiangxi Jinjiang Sewage Treatment Plant abruptly flooded, submerging the plant’s sewage outfall. CECEP Environmental Protection Investment Development (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd. assumed the responsibility as a centrally administered enterprise to take over the Jinjiang plant under the administration of the local government. It immediately activated the emergency response mechanism and collaborated with the staff of nearby Yugan Sewage Treatment Plant to advance the flood prevention work. After several days and nights of hard work, all instruments, equipment and chemical agents of the plant were transported to a safe location. Even when the sewage treatment plant was under overloaded operation, its staff still carefully monitored discharge indicators to ensure 100-percent up-to-standard discharge while handling various emergencies.
