The Unity Bridge across the Ruvuma River between Tanzania and Mozambique is an important gateway between the two countries. With a total value of US$24.65 million, the contract for project design and construction was signed on October 16, 2005. Inaugurated on May 16, 2010, the Unity Bridge is a 720-meter-long two-way single-lane cross-river bridge. Its upper structure is comprised of single-span precast box girders with a length of 40 meters.
